Konopki
Description
This is a processional dance-play by girls in which each stanza is followed by the inclusion (matching or exclusion) of one of the participants. The theme of the dance and its form indicate that it may be a relic of old women’s dances for the harvest, in this case for hemp. It is danced in Mazovia, Lesser Poland, and in Kashubia under the name of cranes.
